8-port engine.

Rachel Harness, (Rach for short) 31 years old, living in Whitwell, Near Worksop Notts. I work for Derbyshire Career Services as Admin Manager, and live alone with 2 cats and 2 cars.
My everyday runabout is a Hyundai Coupe, but my real car is my 1960 Morris Mini which it virtually all original, including panels and paint and has just done 30K miles this year.
My other half (or not so) is Tony Lamb who has at last count 8 minis, including Wildgoose, Cooper S (modified ex rally car), 3 1959's, and other bits and bobs.
I recently pulled together the Wildgoose Register for the IMM and 40th Birthday celebrations and we had 5 'geese and the Wildgoose caravan on display that's more than half there is in existence !!!
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Great 2000.

Andy Hayward (aka Andy in Belgium) e-mail address withheld by request
hi,
i have done this before, when i started on the list, but i have failed to locate the email i sent, so here goes again.
full name...Simon Andrew HAYWARD
my parents chose to give me this name, but just after the ceremony, they had second thoughts! so from that day on they called me Andy, and i even used to give my name as Andy Simon Hayward at school ( they never questioned it). so for work and all official instances, i am Simon Hayward and very few people at work or in official offices know that i am not called Simon! i had to have them know me as Simon because my official papers have that name, and therefor whenever someone asks for me they use Simon, so to stop any confusion i just resolved to having 2 different name, 1 for work and 1 for elsewhere ! here i am known correctly as Andy, and my callsign on the net (to avoid confusion with other Andy's) is simply ' Andy in Belgium '.
address....15 Avenue Roi Baudouin, 6600 Bastogne, Belgium.
born....in 1957 in Scotland, but was immediately taken to live in Norfolk, England.
my mother was Scottish, my father English, so i feel British. :o)
i lived in East Anglia (Norfolk/Suffolk) most of my youth (with my parents) and after moving house/region many times, i feel most at home in Southwold (Suffolk) and Norwich (Norfolk).
after leaving my parents house at the grand age of 16, i worked for Lotus Cars in Hethel and was transferred to various parts of the complex, i also made the front of the Lotus F1 race cars for Ronnie Peterson/Mario Andretti etc., and most parts of luxury motor yachts for rich arabs while working for Colin Chapman. i was on first name terms with Colin, we used to go to the pub on Friday afternoons ( instead of working!) and either used to take his Roll's or a Lotus Esprit (fantastic car)
after i returned from delivery of a yacht to the south of France and staying there for 2 months to check for problems with the owner, i returned to find that my job had been withdrawn! (Colin Chapman was not there). i moved on to various places in England and Central Europe, before settling in Belgium in 1979
i am married (not happily) with 3 daughters aged 19,16, and 7
i hold British and Belgian citizenship and passports.
i am currently working as a long distance Bus driver ( sorry, i know some of you hate buses) doing a daily 500 km run on small national/B roads .I work from 5:30h to 18:45/19:45 most days of the week except Saturdays.
my favourite car before getting a Mini again was my Alfa Romeo 75 Evoluzion, it was a race car reconverted for road use, cost lots but i never lost a race except on top speed to a souped up Porsche 911 ( the Alfa had the original racetrack gearbox, and didn't get above 260 kph :o( but was VERY fast and VERY stable to that speed! my ex boss had a Porsche 911 Carrera 2, and after getting burnt off when we arranged to have a race, he went out and bought the latest 911 Carrera 4 with all the speed up gadgets he could afford. a month later after he was satisfied that it was nicely loosened up, he challenged me to a re-race! i have rarely seen anyone so disappointed! :o) i beat him all the way to 250 kph before running out of gears :o( i three separate races ( one on winding country roads :o) that car was written off in an accident ( a french driver joined the motorway and then crossed all lanes to the fast lane before speeding up, i was coming up on the fast lane at 120 kph ( speed limit ) and he just threw me into the central barrier and then across in front of the lorry i was about to overtake, into the other barrier. i was shaken but not hurt, he drove off! )
i have driven Mini's since 1977 ( i think) when i was working for the Essex County Council as an archaeological supervisor, i used to drive with 6 ! others to the sites all around Essex. then after that i owned a few unfinished projects, until a few years ago when i got my current work, which meant driving less than a mile to work rather than the 60 kilometres to work i was doing until then. my daughters had also grown enough by then to not need to be driven everywhere. i have had 6 Mini's since then, and actually have 2 that i drive regularly.
best condition one is a french British Open 1992 (half-leather interior version) called "Stimpy" at the moment it is only very slightly tuned, it has a HIF 44 ( bdl needle) with K&N replacement filter element, an MG Metro inlet manifold, a Cooper Freeflow exhaust manifold, and an RC40 exhaust pipe, other mods are 3 gauge console with white background MPH/kph indications ( not easy to remember to look at the inner kph graduations!) and a digital (from the Alfa Romeo) clock that fits perfectly in place of the ashtray (i don't smoke anymore since 1980)
the other one is "Sitnot" , a 1988 City 'E' (export version which has the luxury items and opening rear windows). it is called "Sitnot" as i saved it from the scrappers, 'Saved In The Nick Of Time' i use it as everyday transport. i give them both lots of love and care, and in return they very rarely give problems.
i could go on for hours boring you all, so i will stop now.
bye...Andy in Belgium

Simon Hedge simonh@python82.freeserve.co.uk
Okay, I'll join the fun. Simon Hedge, Ipswich, Suffolk. Married with two daughters (yes, a house full of women, nightmare). I work with a video duplicator, making all those 'Mask Of Zorro' or 'Barney' videos you lot buy (according to your tastes, of course). Worst part, I don't actually have a Mini. I'm looking for a nice little project car (basically, really sound shell, as I can't weld) for the right price. In the mean time, I'm reading books, mags, and this list, to get as much info as possible in advance.
cheers,
Simon
Jim Hill hillaj@southwest.com.au
Merry Christmas to all the Miniacs. My name is Jim Hill and usually I only just read the list for any good info on Mini's. I am 40 years old living in Rockingham Western Australia. I am married with 4 children. My current cars are a 1978 1275 LS, and a 1975 Clubman 1100. My wife Joanne has a 1961 Riley Elf. We have only just acquired the Elf and there is a lot of work to be done to it. It is in pieces and work will begin in the new year. I will keep you posted on how it goes. This is a rarity in W.A., as I believe there is only one other Mk 1 Elf in the state. I have been a Miniac since I was 13 when I used to race them on a dirt circuit track as a Junior. I am currently in the process of starting a new Mini Club south of Perth. It is called the 'SOUTHERN DISTRICT BRICK CLUB" and more information will come on this as we get it up and running. More information on the rest of my family can be found at our website. The URL is www.geocities.com/pipeline/slope/1351 There isn't any information on my cars on the site as yet, but I will be upgrading it over the next month or so. I will post a message once it is online. Have a good holiday season and I will be lurking.
Jim
Richard Hince richard.hince@btinternet.com
Born 1961, married with two sons 8 and 19, the latter of which also owns a mini in a constant state of disrepair but it is getting better.
Education: Well, self taught electronics stuff (digital and
analogue of course!) but besides that I also have qualifications
which are officially recognised, but which were a lot easier to
acquire if you ask me. Usual O level garbage, followed by an
engineering diploma which is actually very useful since I learned
how to use workshop tools (lathes etc.) as well as arc/gas/mig
weld. B.Sc. Computer Science gained as a mature student in 1993
at the University of Wales Aberystwyth (Prifysgol Cymru
Aberystwyth). I don't class myself as a linguist exactly but I
get by in French, German and Welsh (my
family's Welsh so it sort of filtered through).
Career: started off as a TV repairman in 1978, but moved to British Telecom in 1979 to become a general purpose telephone type lackie. Whilst there I worked in almost all guises eventually working up to system X telephone exchange programmer. Left after 11 years in 1990 to go back to university because I was totally and utterly bored. Whilst at university I worked for an electronics company designing flight data recording equipment as well as teaching electronics, computer hardware and unix O/S stuff to undergraduates and M.Sc. students on conversion courses. After getting my degree in 93 I went into medical research for a couple of years, working on assessment of low back pain patients. Finally (95) I ended up at a games company in London, running their motion capture studio.
In 1997 I moved to AudioMotion to set up a new motion capture studio, which is the largest in Europe. I guess the best thing about working in the entertainment industry is getting to meet all sorts of interesting people. I've worked with Bjork, Jay Kaye (Jamiroquai), Michael Owen, Les Ferdinand, Steve Cooghan... that's enough I think, don't want to start name dropping! For more about motion capture take a look at http://www.audiomotion.com.
Interests: Minis are still more fun, however. I hope to soon
have a complete range of electronic instruments on offer to the
mini community based on my own designs and intended to be easily
integrated into mini electrical systems. This will, however, have
to wait until my own car is finished (I need it for a test
bed!!). Not particularly interested in computers any more, since
they started to rule my life so I now tend to focus my non-
working hours in other directions. This means minis at the
moment, I am in the process of building a 998 with a few engine
mods. and hopefully this will be a nice enough car soon. I don't
need it, it's strictly a toy!

Rob Kershaw e-mail address withheld by request
Merry Christmas to all.. And I all hope your Mini's got the pressies they wanted!!..
Now my turn to bore you all!!
I'm Rob Kershaw from Swinton in Manchester (Just outside of Salford) I'm 24 and currently living with the Wife 2 B Mel in Manchester City Centre.
I work for Central Manchester Healthcare NHS Trust at Manchester Royal Infirmary as a PC Support Officer (A bloody big place.. So skiving isnt a problem!!).
Been into Mini's since my dad had one when I was but a wee nipper.. Then he went to OTHER cars.. (Maestros!! URGH!!) Then ran a BBS for 3yrs "The Unseen University!" and met John Baxendale.. John passed his test and promptly bought KJA a Racing Flame.. Then I started looking for a car (hadn't passed my test yet!!) and thought.. Not a lot of money.. I'll get a MINI!!.. Got my first an S reg thing.. Boring brown for 50quid which if I'd had any common sense I'd have walked away from! Things happened and it went.. Then a few months later I was looking again and saw Unseen.. A white Clubman Est.. 998 Auto.. 300quid!.. Bargain.. Bought her.. A few months of running around in her then disaster.. a stupid bint in a 205 (electric pink!!) hit the back end and I thought it was all over.. Got her back from the garage which did a shite job but wanted it back.
During my Unseenless period I met Mel.. I was driving a death trap Rover 213.. Got unseen back.. Couldn't really afford to fix her up properly so thought "I'll look for something and garage her while we save up!" And found Bee at M&M's in Warrington.. 300quid again passed hands and I was happy (well apart from the few niggles!)
Now Mel and I are getting married on the 29th Feb (only have to remember the aniversary once every four years!!! YES!!) .. And if things have there way Bee will becoming a sprog carry in about 8months too!!! Mel is a convert and with a bit of luck and some money she'll be having Unseen as her daily driver.. (once we find the 150quid to have the drivers side rear panel done.. :( )
Well that bored me to death nearly so I will go get another can and wish you all a Happy New Year!!!
Rob+Mel+Bee+Unseen+???? (Time to grovel to the boss for a pay rise!)
P.S. I'd like to thank Mel (as she reads these over my shoulder once in a while!) for buying me the Gold limited edition Mini.. Luv you Thanks!! (Ahem.. Thats enough of my soppy romantic side! I'm going to lie down for a bit now!)

Swasdi Bee Mai, Krup...Happy New Year from Thailand.
In the Christian calendar it is the New Millennium, but in the Buddhist Era, next year will be the year 2543. Here goes....
Born in 1944 in Bangkok, Thailand. Educated at West Downs (Winchester) now defunct, boarded up, the grounds being part of Wessex College, Charterhouse (Godalming), Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and the University of California at Berkeley (B.A. in English Literature)
Currently a Major-General in the Royal Thai Army doing staff work for the powers that be; also own a bookshop (family business) which imports Mini Mag and World. We also export material (monographs & serials) published in Thailand to academic institutions around the world including Cornell, US Library of Congress, National Library of Australia, etc.
Married for 27 years, no kids, 7 (yes, seven) Golden Retrievers, 2 Rottweilers, 3 Dachshund and a 3-legged stray, plus a talking mynah bird, 7 discu s fish, and about 100 assorted guppies, goldfish, etc.
Own a blue Mk III Mini which I drive to work about once week; usual car is a BMW 325i. Mini is being tweaked by a friend and hopefully will be ready before the new year. Engine is a 1275 from Japan - nearly all of the older minis in Thailand have second-hand engines from Japan. As I visit UK about 3 times a year (wife works for the airlines), I usually buy Mini stuff from Mini Spares. No problems so far.
There are about 500-750 Minis in Thailand, and we have an informal meeting every Saturday night (10 p.m. to 1 a.m.) with about 10-20 Minis attending (with also Volks, Harley-Davidsons, etc. being present).
Any mini-listers thinking of visiting this part of the world are welcomed to contact me for assistance, sight-seeing, etc. Thailand is well worth a visit as everything is very, very cheap here...good pair of jeans about 5 pounds.
Best wishes for the New Year to everyone, and remember, don't park you Mini behind an elephant!

Anne Krijger MINIWhoIsWho@mibv.com
Here goes mine;
Anne Krijger (realised that I hardly ever sign with my surname) or Anton Jan Roelf Krijger in full. (and no, Anne is not a nickname, it is my actual name :) Born elsewhere on Dec 4th 1966, but raised (since 1969) right here in Zaltbommel, NL, where I own a house these days, and live together with my cat Poochie.
I get payed to tell people what to do and what I think and as such am sometimes called names like 'Chief', 'Guru', 'IT-specialist' and 'Consultant' :)
I'm fairly opinionated and as such never afraid to give my opinion, or ask (potentionally stupid) questions. A lot of people initially think I'm arrogant, until they realise that I don't take myself serious half as much as others do :) I have a dry sense of humor that borders on sarcasm/cynicism. In general I'm a 'happy camper' which in emails is expressed by the use of loads of smileys.
The rest of my character could be described as the personification of the Mini :) (Not totally reliable, not always very comfortable but loads of fun anyway :)
Everything you always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask can be found in the Personal section of my website; http://www.mibv.com/ If it doesn't anwser all your questions; please do not hesitate to ask anyway :)
The Mini section of the same site shows my current way of transport; my Mini Van as well as my previous (and first) car; a Jet Black.
Anne.

A further 3 MK1 Fiesta's followed over the next few months none of which where my fault apart from the last one which I wrote off by going into to the back of somebody... I have been good to the world haven't I!! Then I bought my First mini Jeth a 1983 mayfair. Thrashed the knackeres off it it had 12,000miles on it when the gave it to me... I gave it back with 16,000miles... Spent lots of time going back and forth to Southampton to see Helene.
The following january I bought LC with the Insurance money. A bog std 1989 mayfair with 65,000miles. She went through her fair share of (2) 1275 engines from scrap metros or dodgy people. Since then she has gained;

Hi,
Is anybody collecting this information? Maybe a connection to the mugshots? Anyway here's mine: Gabriele Mark. born Dec. 30th, 1958. married to Klaus since September 99 no kids, a few fish.
Job: studied electronics engineering, now in networking (firewalls) for AT&T (after IBM sold us last year). Live in Holzgerlingen, near Stuttgart, Southwest of Germany.
Minis: the Rudimobile,1991, my first Mini, BRG carb Cooper; I think I'll drive it for about another 2 years before having it completely restored (possibly in Hungary, by the people who made the leopard Mini); I have absolutely no time (or skills) to do this myself! The purple menace, 1998, amaranth MPI Cooper, currently hibernating until Rudi needs restoration.
Additional hobbies: diving, motorbike, reading (book junkie), travelling, (have been to Australia, NZ, USA, Carribean, a lot of Europe, SE Asia, mostly alone with a backpack) next trip South Africa (honeymoon finally!) I occasionally suffer from panic attacks - I can send myself on a trip without drugs! Pity it is a horror trip every time...
Not planning to attend the IMM 2000 since it is a too bloody long drive.

Met her at Uni in 1980 when she had a reshelled Mk1......still go all wobbly over young lady Mini drivers. Conditioning. House full of 6 guinea pigs, one wabbit, two gerbils, a dog (we think, though he's not so sure he's one) and Christmas lodgers in the form (as of this morning) of three hamsters and an unspecified quantity of locusts. Cars, a Ford to cover the practicalities of life, a Rickman Ranger kit out on permanent loan to a friend, Flossie the 1994 Sue's 40th birthday surprise Cooper and Camilla the Domino Pimlico. Built her in 1988 in two violent shades of metallic pink, currently 1098cc. Hobbies - too many. Ran the Notts Kit Car Club for a lot of years but try to keep a lower profile these days. Brewing, cars, camping, fishing, beekeeping, it all gets out of hand. Did 20 years Martial Arts until I stuffed my back in 1998. New Years resolution - to keep up the physio and see whether the old bones can still hack it. Oh, and rebuild Camilla!

Graham Marshall, Aged 29, Live in Northwich,Cheshire,UK. Work for Shell Research at Ellesmere Port involved in engine lubricant research. Used to run engine tests on everything from chainsaw engines to big 6 cylinder 12 litre truck engines. Currently working on field trials run throughout the world using trucks, cars and buses. Married to Lorna who I got to know after I fixed the brakes on her Mini and our first date was the Mini's 30th at Silverstone. Have one son Jack who is 4 and loves to help me in the garage as long he has the hammer !! Bought my first 850 Mini when I was 17, two months before I passed my test and put three different engines in it before exchanging it for a nice green 1275 Clubman. Put a new engine in this just before it got very badly written off (pictures on my website) and put me in intensive care for 8 days! No more Mini's until I bought my first Grasstrack car in 1994 and ran it for one season. Then took me five years to build my next one which I have raced this year and am currently preparing for next season. My daily runaround is a 1975 1021cc with all the right bits on.

Well here goes. A Long one, because I am Rocky's age.
David Murray McCartney, 61, Placerville CA, East of Sacramento. One kitty: Atilla-The-Honey, a black one-eyed siamese of 18 years. I really miss Spike 2Tone-Jones, the grey/white sweetheart.
Musician, Hypnotherapist & Counselor, Teacher, underemployed graphic design/publisher(Apple). 6'5", 260#, ADHD, Right-brained, Chronic Depression. My sign: Feces. Single again, one super son: Brian, 32.
I bought my first Mini-Cooper in 1963, before most of you were born. I have owned 12 minis. 2 became SCCA/paved oval racers. Latest Mini is a 61 pickup waiting for me to do a lot of welding under it's pretty bodywork. I have built race engines & trannys, but I sure get nervous doing it.
I raced between 1965 and 1970+ and was quite successful, especially in the first years when I could do more. Many lap records, especially on paved ovals. Promoted a pro sedan race at Laguna Seca in 67(?) and won my class. Taught race driving for SCCA 4 years. Love to swap stories with CKen & Rocky.
Anglophile, collect Goon Shows, working on a 72 MG Midget and 69 Austin 1300/America. Daily driver is an 89 Honda Civic Si. I carry my string bass in it to trad jazz gigs. Baritone in a gr8 Barbershop Quartet. Music is good for the soul. Django Reinhardt lives!
Travel: Far East (Navy) in the late 50s, loved Japan. British Isles and Europe in 67 and 93. I would like to retire to England, run a Mini Van, carrying my bass from gig to gig, think warm thoughts, and laugh aloud more often.
