In 1999 the IMM was held the weekend of the 13th to the 15th
of august 1999 in Gaydon, UK, organized by the Mini Moke Club.
As an extra bonus Rover was celebrating the 40th year of
production of the Mini (no, it never has been out of production
!) at Silverstone
circuit the weekend after the IMM. The week in between was
filled with various Mini-events, just to keep those who came over
for both events occupied.
As a member of M.I.N.I the International Mini List (IL) as
well as the Dutch Mini List (DL) the fun started long before the
events actually took off.
Planning of where to meet, what to go to, who to travel with
etc...
Getting reservations for tickets and camping on Silverstone
sorted proved to be a pain.
In the end I made a dozen calls/faxes and only got it partly
sorted before I left.
In the weeks before I gathered all the stuff I thought I needed to bring, made some stickers to put on the car and even made my own T-shirt just to be sure other could easily recognize me. I also got a heavy raincoat and sunglasses, since you never know what the weather will be like in the UK that time of year. (Or any other time of year for that matter :)
Below are the links to the (sequential) days of this brilliant
'Mini-week' (11 days actually :).
If you want to see the short version, there's an Miniweek99 AVI available.
